The City Hall of Sector 1 is building 6 automated parking lots, on a metal structure, between blocks. Construction works on the first two, located on the streets of ave. Alexandru Serbanescu 12-14 and Ștefan Burileanu no. 14-16 from the Aviation District, have already started, reports the local administration. Other parking lots will be installed on Iona Mihalace Boulevard, Fikusului Boulevard, Elena Karagiani Street and Smaranda Brescu Street, according to the quoted source.
The Mayor of Sector 1, Clotilde Armand, said that for densely populated areas, she chose such a solution – to place parking spaces vertically, so as not to affect the existing green areas.
“One of the main problems of the capital is the lack of parking spaces due to the large number of cars. To solve this real problem, some of the mayors of the sector preferred the easiest way out of the existing ones: concrete the green areas, clear the trees and install new parking spaces for the houses. For the congested microdistricts of sector 1, where there is already little green space, we chose a sustainable development solution and decided to install vertical parking spaces. It is about automated parking systems, with the help of which we reduce the parking deficit without touching the existing green spaces,” said Mayor Clotilde Armand, according to the cited source.
The mayor invites residents to express their opinion on the proposed decision.
“I am waiting for your thoughts on this decision that I am proposing. How can the local administration build more residential parking spaces in the limited space between blocks,” said Clotilde Armand.
