The mayor of the Bielceşti commune in the Prahov district, Ion Rada, who is suspected of paying millions of lei from the city hall’s funds to companies actually controlled by him, was arrested at home. In the same file, the administrator of one of these companies also received an arrest warrant at home, News.ro reports.

The Valenii de Munte court rejected on Tuesday the prosecutor’s offer to issue a warrant for the preventive arrest of Ion Radu, the mayor of Belcesti commune in Prahova county, who is suspected of paying millions of lei from the city hall’s funds to two companies. which he actually controlled, the money ends up going to him or his relatives.

Instead, the judges issued a house arrest warrant against the mayor.

The same decision was made regarding a man who appeared in the documents as an administrator of one of the companies that, according to the investigation, were controlled by the mayor.

The prosecutor’s office can appeal the court’s decision.

The prosecutor’s office detained the mayor of the Bielceşti commune, Ion Rada, who is suspected of making payments of millions of lei through intermediaries to two companies he managed, and then the money was transferred to the mayor and his relatives. The actions took place during the last five years, the prosecutor’s office documented more than a hundred such payments.

• “As the mayor and manager of loans of the municipality of Beleşti, Radu Ion ordered to make a series of 115 payments to the companies SC RF SRL, SC AC 2019 SRL and SC IFC SRL in the period from 19.01.2018 to 26.01.2024 for a total amount of 2,498,972.41 lei , the companies he actually managed. In the period 27.03.2018-23.01.2024, Radu Ion determined the DA (legal administrator of SC RF SRL) to order to make 96 payments from the accounts of SC RF SRL in the total amount of 237,356.54 lei, and in the period 17.09.2020-26.01.2024 forced the DA (legal administrator of SC AC 2019 SRL) order to make 73 payments from the accounts of SC AC 2019 SRL totaling 714,410.4 lei for his benefit, his relatives and his relatives,” say prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office at the Valencia de Munte Court.

Two administrators of the enterprise, as well as the accountant of one of the enterprises and the administrator of another enterprise, are involved in one case. Mayor Ion Radu is under investigation for using his position to continually favor certain people and incite embezzlement on an ongoing basis.

The administrator of one of the enterprises is being investigated for involvement in using his official position to favor individuals in uniform and embezzlement in uniform, he was also detained together with the mayor.

There are three more suspects in this case. One of them is accused of aiding and abetting the use of official position for the purpose of giving preference to certain persons in a continuous form and embezzlement of funds in a continuous form, another administrator of the enterprise is suspected of aiding in the use of official position for the purpose of giving preference to certain persons in a continuous form, and the accountant is under investigation for involvement in long-term embezzlement.

The two were detained after prosecutors from the Valencia de Munte court and police from the Economic Crime Investigation Service conducted 11 searches on Monday at the headquarters of some government institutions, including City Hall and the suspects’ homes.
