Wozniacki, currently ranked 204th in the world, had a very tough match against Katie Wolynets, who sent home Ons Jabert in the previous round.

It was 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 for Caroline, who at 33 and after two births seems to be experiencing a second youth on the WTA. The dispute lasted two hours and 11 minutes.

Additionally, after Monday’s success, Wozniacki reached 35 wins at Indian Wells, moving her just ahead of Victoria Azarenka (the Dane is third all-time behind Davenport and Sharapova).

On the other hand, Angelique Kerber looks great at 36 and recently returned to the court after becoming a mother.

The German eliminated the 17th favorite (Veronika Kudermetova) in two sets, the score 6-4, 7-5. The match lasted one hour and 47 minutes.

Former WTA leaders and current mothers (Angie has one child, Caro has two), Kerber and Wozniacki haven’t faced each other in six years at a world tournament (since the 2018 Eastbourne semi-finals, when she beat Denmark in three sets, 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-4).

The balance in head-to-head matches is obvious, Kerber leads 8-7.

The BNP Paribas Open is a WTA 1000 tournament that takes place from March 6 to 17. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is $8,995,555. Titled champion – Olena Rybakina.
