The Lufthansa flight attendants union has asked its members to go on strike at Lufthansa and short-haul carrier CityLine on Tuesday and Wednesday to demand higher wages, CNBC reports.
The flight attendants union UFO said on Saturday that the strike voted by members would affect departures from Frankfurt airport on Tuesday and departures from Munich on Wednesday.
The Lufthansa airline said that about 100,000 passengers are likely to be affected.
The airline group warned on Thursday that operating losses would widen in the first quarter and offered a modest outlook for 2024 as it grapples with costly labor disputes while offsetting a travel boom.
European airlines have benefited from unprecedented post-pandemic demand, which has allowed them to raise prices, but higher labor and maintenance costs have limited revenue growth.
Lufthansa, in particular, has agreed to new wage deals to end strikes that analysts and investors say threaten its 2024 operating margin target.
Lufthansa ground staff went on strike on Thursday, and on Wednesday flight attendants voted to strike, demanding a 15% pay rise.
