According to the DNA press release, between February 9 and 28, one of the defendants, using the help of another, allegedly demanded from a person (a witness) suspected of attempted murder, sums of money from 7,000 to 30,000 euros in order to to convey his supposed influence which he should believe he would have over some of the judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, and that he would force them to give the witness a non-custodial sentence. freedom (suspended sentence).

After several “negotiations”, it was decided that the witness would give the defendant 7,000 euros for himself and 20,000 euros for others, of which 1,000 euros he would receive from a relative of the witness, the rest of the money coming in would be handed over at a later date.

The defendant would have received a total of 26,000 euros from the same relative of the witness on Saturday, on which the flagrant crime was established.

Earlier, another person was detained in the case – a lawyer from the Jalomits Bar Association, who was allegedly caught red-handed by anti-corruption prosecutors on February 11, 2023, while receiving 17,000 euros from the same relative as a witness (7,000 euros for himself and 10,000 euros for others). . This time, the money in question was allegedly given to the lawyer to convey the supposed influence he was believed to have on the judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, and that he would force them to order an investigation of a witness who was at large. . Regarding this person, the judges of the Court of Appeal of Bucharest accepted the proposal of preventive arrest for 30 days formulated by the anti-corruption prosecutors.

The two defendants are due to appear on Sunday at the Court of Appeal in Bucharest with a proposal for a 30-day remand.
