The second stage of the new Formula 1 season is scheduled for the weekend.
Carlos Sainz will miss the race in Jeddah for medical reasons after finishing practice on Thursday with a fever.
After several examinations, the Ferrari driver was diagnosed with appendicitis and is awaiting surgery.
Sainz will be replaced by Oliver Biermann, the driver who will make his F1 debut this weekend. The Englishman secured pole position for Formula 2’s main qualifying race on Thursday.
At the first round of the Formula 1 season in Bahrain, Carlos Sainz finished 3rd behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez (both Red Bull) but ahead of team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Oliver Biermann is set to make his F1 debut in place of Carlos Sainz.
Carlos has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will need surgery.
