​Jacqueline Christian was unable to justify the status of the main favorite for the qualification of the “WTA 1000” tournament in Indian Wells, as our athlete was stopped by Storm Hunter on the way to the main draw.

Jacqueline Christian was eliminated in the first round of qualifying at Indian Wells

Ranked 82nd in the WTA rankings, Christian was defeated in two sets by Australia’s Storm Hunter (124th WTA) 6-3, 7-5.

Jacqueline started the second set well, leading 5-3, but lost four straight games (she also missed three set points at 5-4).

Hunter advanced to the second round of qualifying after an hour and 33 minutes of play.

  • Storm will compete for a place in the main draw in Indian Wells with American Robin Montgomery (199 WTA, wildcard beneficiary).
  • For participating in this competition, Jacqueline Christian will receive $7800 and two points in the WTA singles ranking.

The BNP Paribas Open, a WTA 1000 tournament, will be held from March 6 to 17. It is played in Indian Wells (California), on hard, offers prizes worth $9,258,080, and the title champion was Olena Rybakina (2023).
