Andriy Rublev receives points and money after disqualification at ATP Dubai

Rublev was disqualified after a Russian-speaking official accused him of saying “Bloody hell” as he shouted at a linesman. The moment happened in a match with Oleksandr Bublyk with a score of (4) 6-7, 7-6(5), 6-5 in favor of the Kazakh.

Bublyk said he would have liked the match to continue, but he made it to the ATP 500 final (losing to Frenchman Hugo Humbert).

“The Appeals Committee concluded that, in addition to losing the match, the usual penalties associated with disqualification, namely the loss of ranking points and prize money for the entire tournament, would be disproportionate in this case.” the ATP said in a statement on Monday.

When making the decision, the testimony of players and officials, video and audio analysis were taken into account.

Thus, Rublev will receive $157,755 and 200 points in the ATP ranking, but will remain with the penalty received for violation of the regulation ($36,400).

The Dubai Tennis Championships, an ATP 500 tournament, took place from February 26 to March 2. The game was played on a hard surface and the total prize pool was $2,941,785. The competition was won by Frenchman Hugo Humbert.
