The world number 9 took almost two hours to defeat Ruud (11 ATP, 6 favourites), 6-4, 6-4.

This is De Minaur’s eighth career title, having won in Sydney, Atlanta, Zhuhai (2019), Antalya, Eastbourne (2021), Atlanta (2022) and Acapulco (2023, 2024). Alex participated in eight other finals.

During the competition in Mexico, the player from Antiposis also defeated Taro Daniel (64 ATP), Sebastian Ofner (37 ATP), Stephanos Tsitsipas (12 ATP, favorite 5) and Jack Draper (50 ATP).

At the end of October, Acapulco was devastated by Hurricane Otis, the strongest ever to hit the west coast of Mexico, but the organizers of the ATP 500 tennis tournament in the city finally decided to host the tennis tournament in 2024.

“I’m sure Acapulco will shine brighter than ever” – Alex De Minaur.

Alex De Minaur defeated Tommy Paul 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the 2023 draw.

Abierto Mexicano was part of the “ATP 500” category and was held from February 26 to March 2. The tournament was held in Acapulco on hard, and the total prize pool was $2,206,080.
