The current general mayor of the capital, Nikušor Dan, was officially appointed on Saturday as a candidate from the Forţa Dreptei formation for a new mandate. Nikushor Dan, who incidentally is backed by the United Right Alliance, which also includes USR and PMP, said he may have made mistakes during his mandate, but he did not mock the people’s vote.
The Forza Dreptei party nominated its candidates for the position of mayors of sectors in the capital and confirmed its support for Nikushor Dan for the new term of the general mayor from the three parties of the United Right Alliance.
Candidates from the Forța Dreptei party for the position of mayors of the sectors are Horia Grigorescu – the mayor’s office of sector 1, Oana Nicolescu – the mayor’s office of sector 2, Catalin Nitsu – the mayor’s office of sector 3, Ciprian Grigore Pericleanu – the mayor’s office of sector 4, Bohdan Franzu – the mayor’s office of sector 5 City Hall and Ionel Puskas – 6 sector of the Town Hall.
The vote took place at the electoral conference of Forza Dreptei Bucharest, and the delegates present in the hall voted unanimously by raising their hands.
“We probably made mistakes during that period, but we never mocked the vote that people gave us.”
Nikushor Dan said he may have made mistakes during his mandate but he did not abuse the people’s vote.
- “In politics, only one thing is important – to do what the people want, that is, what your supporters want. Four years ago, I was only part of the discussions, which were difficult, but then there was political will, and at the level of the right-wing parties in Bucharest, there was a desire to end the PSD’s 12-year period of looting in Bucharest. It was a difficult, correct decision, and people came and voted for us,” said Nikusor Dan after the appointment.
He also said that he is optimistic that he and his colleagues will be able to remind people of where he started and where he is now.
- “We probably made mistakes during that time, but we never mocked the vote that people gave us. (…) I’m optimistic that people understood, we also have to remind them that we didn’t even have road markings in this city, we were breaking our legs on Piata Unirii, that it was the wrong tile, they jumped off the pavement , from there we went. I am optimistic that we will be able to explain to the people of Bucharest where we started, where we have reached and where we can reach with the same seriousness,” emphasized Nikušor Dan, quoted by News.ro.
Ludovic Orban on unification of elections: An evil, undemocratic, unconstitutional decision
The president of Forţa Dreptei, Ludovic Orbán, at a conference organized on Saturday, charged that the decision to organize local elections together with European Parliament elections was an “evil, undemocratic, unconstitutional” decision taken against the USSR. Alliance PMP-Forţa Dreptei:
- “This despicable, undemocratic, unconstitutional decision to force Romanians to vote to elect their mayors, local councils, presidents and district councilors was made for several distorted reasons. The first, and the most important, is directed against us.
- This is the real reason, because they know very well that in the first stage we only laid the foundations of an alliance for the elections to the European Parliament, that we are three different political formations that, faced with the responsibility of preparing for local elections, will have to do these things for month. In a month, let’s agree, let’s appoint our mayoral candidates, given that in many localities there are good mayoral candidates from the UDR, Prava Sila, and PMP, let’s try to strategically prepare for such a battle as local elections . , given that we will face 2,900 mayors who belong to the PSD and the PNL.”
He also claimed that city hall officials are “half-turned into election agents”, and to them are added local councils: “Over 30,000 local councillors, hundreds of thousands of city hall workers, half of whom have been turned into election agents, especially in rural areas and small cities, with all the sinecures introduced through the back door, through state institutions, in ministries, decentralized agencies, in state-owned companies that will instantly become election agents.”
