Best known for his role on the hit comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, the actor has also been a comedian, appearing on a number of television shows including The Today Show and The Late Show with David Letterman on NBC.

GQ magazine included him on its list of the “Most Influential Comedians of the 20th Century”, and in 2004 he was ranked number 45 on Comedy Central’s Top 100 “Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time”. In 2023, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years earlier.
