Member of the European Parliament Dacian Cholos, a former prime minister, considers it “uncomfortable” that the government “invests public money for the party and state nomenclature in conditions of poverty in the country.”
At a conference in Strasbourg, a member of the European Parliament REPER was questioned about the information that appeared in the press about the €7 million renovation work carried out in the protocol building, which is managed by the RAAPPS Directorate under the Secretary-General of the Government.
“It’s a shame. As a former prime minister, I am ashamed to see how the government – because the RANP is subordinate to the Government, moreover, directly subordinate to the General Secretariat of the Government – and to see how the Government invests state money for the party. and the state nomenclature in conditions in which they complain that we have a large deficit, that they do not collect enough money in the budget, in conditions in which we have poverty in the country, in which inflation is growing and many people are doing worse,” he said Cholosh
The former prime minister says he has “reasonable suspicions” that the villa of protocol will be prepared for current president Klaus Iohannis, who he described as “a politician who has lost the term for national politics” as his term as head of state comes to an end .
In context, Dacian Ciolos revealed that Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku “has no way of not knowing” whether the RAPPS building where the work is being carried out is intended for Klaus Iohannis for the period after his term ends, as former presidents are entitled to protocol accommodation.
“The Prime Minister cannot find any other explanation than that I will look, I will check, I do not know what is happening. I tell you as a former prime minister that he could not have known within the next half hour after the publication of the material. I do not think that these investments were made without the knowledge of the Prime Minister, at least passively. If Prime Minister Çolaku does not stop these investments as soon as possible, he will find himself in the ridiculous position of becoming the cupbearer of President Iohannis because of his behavior. That is, the master of the house, who literally prepares his house. And he does it for public money, not for his own. It is a shame to talk about how we are increasing Romania’s representation at the European level and to send such signals. This type of investment is a disqualification for some political people who still have even bigger political claims,” Dacian Cholos said.
The presidential administration said on Tuesday that there is no request from President Klaus Iohannis for the provision of a protocol residence and office space, both with the purpose of residence, after the end of the mandate.
The reaction comes after a Recorder investigation into the Autonomous Region’s State Protocol Heritage Authority (RA APPS) opaquely investing around €7 million, public money, in converting a former party headquarters in Bucharest into a protocol residence in while all clues point to one name , when it comes to the beneficiary of this repair.
