Environment Minister Mircea Fecet explained on Tuesday evening on Euronews that the reduction of the budget of the Rabla Clasic program by more than 200 million lei is due to the fact that the authorities proposed to increase the number of electric cars on the roads, because big cities need clean air, News quotes. ro.

As for when the two Rabla programs – Classic and Plus – will start this year, the minister says that “in no case” the authorities do not propose that it be in the summer, but earlier.

Mircea Fecet explained on Tuesday evening the reasons why the budget of the Rabla Clasic program was reduced from 560 million lei in 2023 to 300 million lei in 2024.

“Because we offer to take part of the money from Rabla Clasic and transfer it to Rabla Plus every year. In other words, we finance less internal combustion cars, diesel or petrol, and more electric cars, which are more environmentally friendly, taking into account that we also need clean air in big cities, not just new cars on the streets,” he said. ., said Mircea Fechet, Euronews Romania.

Regarding the start of the Rabla program, the minister explained that this aspect “very much depends on the approval of the budget of the Environment Fund Administration.” He said that he hopes to approve the draft government resolution on Wednesday. Feshe said that “at worst, it will take a week to approve this budget.”

Meanwhile, the drafts of the two programs are under public discussion.

Mircea Fecet said that he could not name the start date of the two programs, assuring that the authorities “do not lose a single day” to implement them as soon as possible, especially considering the fact that many buyers are waiting for the opening of car purchase programs.

“There is no way we are going to spend the summer without Rabla programs. Traditionally, they begin in the spring. (…) I can say that we are not wasting time,” said the Minister of Ecology.
