The spokesman of the archdiocese of Tomis Mircea, Christian Prikop, explained that the hierarch can establish a special period of fasting and prayer at the request of the faithful.
“In fulfilling his mission, the Orthodox hierarch can establish a special period of fasting and prayer at the request of the clergy and the faithful. Many such emergency measures have been introduced over time. For the Archdiocese of Tomis, the last special fast with prayer established by the hierarch took place in 2020, in the context of that time,” said the spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Tomis.
ÎPS Theodosius was asked on Thursday on Radio Dobruja if he could establish a day of prayer in the entire Archdiocese of Tomis for the establishment of the Metropolitanate of Tomis.
“Sure, let’s pray, look, there will be a sealing next week, if there is, if not, when the good Lord wills. We have taken the appropriate steps that we could not help but take with such an obvious and much needed truth to make it a reality, certainly let us all pray. And so, next Wednesday and Friday, even on Thursday, let’s fast, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, next week, let’s fast and pray as intensely as possible for this desire of yours, which is so justified,” Archbishop Tomisu said.
He believes that the establishment of the Metropolitanate of Tomis is a testament to history.
Of course, I can’t shout as loud as if it’s my right. This is not my right. This is the testimony of history, the right of your brothers who live here, and this necessity is emphasized by Romanians from all over the country and from the diaspora. I am always warned about doing something to highlight the history of Dobrudja and the Tomitan Church. Of course, God, if we pray, He will help us, and we have hope in Him,” Archbishop Tomis said.
IPS Theodosius was also recently asked on a Radio Dobruja program whether he would discuss the Tomsk Metropolitanate at the upcoming Synod.
“I hope that our request will be included in the agenda. You can express yourself, as I have already said, ask that I am not asking for myself, but for the restoration of the fundamental historical truth for the whole Church and for all our faithful. All of us have an added dignity and blessing from God to put in order what belonged to our ancestors. Send your letters to the Holy Synod, to the Patriarchate,” Archbishop Tomisky said.
The Romanian Patriarchate specified that the request of the Tomis archdiocese for the elevation to the rank of metropolitan was rejected by the Holy Synod in 2003, and the Archbishop of Tomis, IPS Theodosius, “resolutely insists that only the diocese he pastors become a metropolitan. “, thereby violating the order of the Romanian Orthodox Church. In addition, “violation of the statutory order of the Church and disruption of peace in the life of the Church and society due to manifestations of rebellion, indiscipline and public pressure will be included in the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Holy Synod.”
The next meeting of the Holy Synod is scheduled for February 29.
