Marcel Čolaku says it’s time to “end the Sekelland autonomy nonsense”, commenting that this will never happen and that no one will divide Transylvania. The PSD leader says he will not accept the existence of laws that favor certain Romanians of other ethnic groups.
Marcel Čolaku was present on Saturday at the district conference of PSD Hargit, which is taking place in the House of Culture in Toplyka.
“Both you and I want to raise children in a normal country. For this, first of all, we must behave normally. Let’s put an end to the nonsense, with the autonomy of Seklet. This has not happened and will never happen. According to the Constitution of Romania, it is a sovereign state and no one will ever divide Transylvania. Romania is a member of the European Union, it is a member of NATO, all these stories and all this animosity appear when the elections take place. Gosh, this is a way for political leaders to mobilize their electorate to vote. I got over those times. These are mixed families. Our children go to school together. We are in Romania, and they are Romanians,” said the PSD president, quoted by news.ro.
He clarified that ethnic Hungarians who do not speak the Romanian language condemn themselves.
“They came to me and said that I was in Toplyka, I went to a store, and the woman who served me did not know Romanian. This is also possible. But, sorry, that woman who doesn’t know Romanian is condemning herself in the heart of Romania. Whoever urges her not to study the Romanian language in Romania, being a citizen of Romania, is wrong. In fact and by law, it self-isolates in a certain geographical area. If he had graduated from the university in Bucharest, he would not have had a chance to find a job in Bucharest, Iasi or any other part of the country. It’s not something I’m proud of. I don’t know how to speak Romanian in Romania, in fact you are dooming yourself to not develop,” Marcel also conveyed to Čolak.
The prime minister also announced that he will not accept excesses and laws that favor certain Romanians of other ethnic groups.
“You have to look at things in a completely different way. We from Bucharest must not come and give you lessons, otherwise you live at home. I really will never settle for excess. I will not agree that there are laws in Romania that favor certain Romanians of other ethnic groups. We are all equal. We must respect each other. If we don’t respect each other, they should get the rule of law, because that’s how democracy is sustained. This is not anarchy, otherwise we can only develop together, invest much more in your constituencies, in the particularities of your constituencies,” the PSD president said.
