Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo does not believe that peace in Ukraine with the support of Donald Trump will be beneficial for the country. “For Ukraine, this would be effectively the equivalent of capitulation and giving up part of its territory,” the prime minister said in parliament on Thursday, according to Le Soir, as quoted by Rador Radio Romania.

“Here in Europe and in Belgium, there are direct and indirect friends of Russian President Vladimir Putin who believe that peace can be accelerated with Trump in power. But what kind of peace would that be?” asked the prime minister.

“A peace that will only harm Ukraine (…) Ukraine will not be helped by an approximate peace based on friendship between Trump and Putin. Only constant support can do this,” he told the Belgian electorate.

Speaking about the confiscation of Russian assets and their use for Ukraine, the Prime Minister noted that discussions on this topic continue in the G7. “In any case, this can only be done if there are legal grounds,” he added.
