The Romanian men’s team reached the 1/8 finals of the World Team Table Tennis Championship in Busan (South Korea), defeating the England team 3:0.

Romania to face China at the 8th World Table Tennis Championship for men

The victory in the 1/8 finals came after matches won by Eduard Ionescu, Ovidiu Ionescu and Darius Movilianu.

Eduard Ionescu – Tom Jarvis 3-0 (12-10, 11-5, 11-7)

Ovidiu Ionescu v Paul Drinkhall 3-2 (3-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8)

Darius Movilianu – Samuel Walker 3-1 (11-2, 10-12, 11-7, 11-7).

In an attempt to reach the quarter-finals and qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris, the “tricolors” face an impossible mission: they are waiting for the main favorite and current Olympic champion – China.

The match between Romania and China will take place on Wednesday at 13:00 (Romanian time).
