“Last night I received several private messages from women. I was most impressed by the case of a 57-year-old woman who wanted to tell me about the case of 1987, when she was raped by a colleague whom she knew very well and with whom she happened to be alone at home,” Mariana Godine’s post begins.

In a post published on Monday, a police officer said that women should not go anywhere accompanied by men they do not know.

“She told me this to tell me that she thought I was wrong with my text because it can happen as a woman to be attacked by acquaintances. Other women who wrote to me told me about similar cases, they went through traumatic experiences of sexual violence with men they knew,” Godine writes.

“In no way did I want any woman who has experienced such trauma to feel any harm because of what I wrote”

He says that he did not want to offend anyone with his text and admits that he left room for interpretation.

  • “The fact that these women felt and decided to write me such stories makes me realize that my text left room for some interpretations that I did not take into account for a moment.
  • Again, I never meant for any woman who has experienced such trauma to feel any harm because of what I wrote there, and if any woman did feel that way, I offer my apologies and reassurances that I never had this intention,” the police officer claims.

Among other things, in a text posted on Facebook on Monday, Godine asked the women “who the hell are you meeting and especially where you have to send the location on live?”, referring to the lyrics of the song “Macarena”. artist Erica Isaac.

A song that divided society into two camps

Rapper Erica Isaac rocked social media with a raunchy adaptation of the ’90s hit song ‘Macarena’.

23-year-old Erica has released a manifesto song in which she speaks frankly about the stereotypes of women in Romanian society, as well as the violence they are subjected to.

“If not men, then who would protect you? / Protect us from whom?”.

A series of data collected by the Filia center shows that in Romania 1 in 4 women have been physically or sexually abused by their partner or ex-partner. Over the past five years, the number of reports of beatings or other violence registered with the police has increased by more than 50%.

At the same time, five rape victims are registered every day, and 44% of these crimes are committed against minors, representatives of the “Filia” center report.
