The National Authority for the Protection of Consumer Rights (ANPC) explained in an exclusive response to Gazeta Sporturilor what are the sanctions applied to the World Class gym chain and what are the reasons for the fines.

On February 14, the ANPC conducted a “large-scale control action” in 19 fitness halls in Bucharest. According to the results of the actions of the ANPK, 7 of them were temporarily closed due to violations reported by the controlling body.

Gazeta Sporturilor asked the ANPC to express its point of view on events held at World Class venues. The institution explained both the sanctions that were applied and the violations that were reported by ANPC commissioners.

Next, we reproduce ANPC’s response:

Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Commission for Consumer Protection (CRPCR) Bucharest-Ilfov conducted on 14/02/2024 a wide control action at 19 work points belonging to the economic operator World Class Romania SRL to check compliance with legal provisions in the field.

After discovering the violations, the Commissioners of the CRPCR Bucharest-Ilfov have applied the following sanctions so far:

– fines for violations in the amount of 116,500 lei; (no – equivalent to 23,400 euros)

– 1 warning;

– temporary suspension of the sale of inappropriate food additives and textile products in the amount of approximately 6,000 lei;

– temporary suspension of services until deficiencies are eliminated at 7 locations;

– a proposal for the temporary closure of the unit for a period of 6 months to 12 months for 3 controlled work points located in the city of Calea on September 13, no. 90, sector 5, str. Barbu Văcărescu no. 164A, Sector 2, and Bd., December 1, 1918, no. 33A, sector 3.
