Asked by Digi24 why he wants to run against Emil Bock for the mayor of Cluj, Sarmas said that “our city has reached a stage where it has to go to the next level. Using a saying from the time of the revolution: “it is like a pillar.” which is about to explode”. It is good, 5 stars, but if it is not taken to the next level, it will soon suffocate.”

When asked if the PNL still remained liberal, the MP said that in terms of values it remained right-wing, but had been sidetracked by the coalition with the PSD.

“There are still a lot of right-wing people in the PNL, but the actions, I wouldn’t say values, are no longer what they were a few years ago, obviously changed by the coalition government. The measures are obviously not necessarily in accordance with what the party sometimes wants in itself.”

Two days ago, he announced on Facebook that he had been removed from PNL’s internal WhatsApp groups.
