“I want to have a candidate from the United Right and this is our goal. It would be incorrect to announce it now (…). I believe that we will have a joint solution that we will find within the framework of the United Right Alliance,” said Drula on Prima TV, Agerpres notes.

When asked if he would take part in an internal contest with Ludovic Orbán, Drula said: “I don’t think it’s a contest.”

Drula claims that Romanians want “a right-wing president, (…) honesty and courage.”

“I don’t think people see a solution to take Romania further from Cuke, Colacu, Simion, and I think they want a right-wing president, a president who is honest and courageous. Or these people don’t respond to any of these signs,” Drula added.

Regarding the political partners with whom the United Right could form a political majority after the parliamentary elections, Drula said: “Speculating now, on the one hand, about what will happen after the elections is counterproductive. We want to convince Romanians – and we know that there is a group of up to 40% of people who want the right solution in the real Romania – to vote for us. Then, that we can deal with the UDMR, that we can deal with who it will be then, those are things that we discuss later.”

He ruled out possible cooperation with AUR and SOS Romania. “Cooperation with parties outside democracy is excluded. It is clear. Parties that have a fascist, extremist agenda,” he added.
