Despite a shaky start to the year in Brisbane, the Australian Open and Au Dhabi, Naomi Osaka managed to outlast Caroline Garcia, Petra Martic and Lesya Tsurenko in Doha.
However, in the quarterfinals, the Japanese lost to Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, after a balanced match, which was decided by a tie-break with the score 7-6(6), 7-6(5).
In the semi-finals, Pliskova will meet with world leader Iga Svyatek.
