Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview broadcast on Wednesday that he prefers Joe Biden to Donald Trump, but that he is ready to work with any American president, Reuters reported.

Russian journalist Pavlo Zarubin asked Putin which of the Democrat Biden and the Republican Trump is “better for us.”

Putin replied: “Biden. He is more experienced, more predictable, a politician of the old school. But we will work with any American president whom the American people trust.”

However, the Russian president refused to comment on the debate in the US about Biden’s age.

“When I met Mr. Biden in Switzerland, I admit, it was three years ago, there was already talk about his incapacity, but I didn’t see anything like that,” he said, according to AFP.

“What we need to analyze is the political position, and the position of the current (US) administration is extremely harmful and wrong,” Putin added.

Moscow “will work with any American leader trusted by the American people,” he added.

The US presidential campaign was rocked last week by a judge’s devastating comments about the 81-year-old US president’s failing memory. They were rejected by Joe Biden’s camp.

Former Republican President Donald Trump has been accused of colluding with Russia in recent years. He sparked outrage among Europeans when he recently threatened to encourage Russia to attack NATO countries whose defense spending is deemed insufficient.
