A man from Prahova County has been arrested by police on charges of intentional, unlawful killing of animals after he intentionally hit a dog with his car.

“On February 14 of this year, the police officers of the Prahov Animal Protection Bureau arrested a 45-year-old resident of Urlatsi, who is suspected of committing the crime of intentional unlawful killing of animals,” the representatives of the district police in Prahov reported on Wednesday evening.

The case was opened after a person complained to the police on Tuesday that a driver had killed a dog while driving in the commune of Dumbrava.

“According to the report, checks were carried out in order to establish the factual circumstances, soon the policemen identified and exposed the man, and later he was taken to the headquarters of the police unit for questioning. Thus, on the basis of the provided evidence, a preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of detention for a period of 24 hours,” the source notes.

In this case, the police are continuing the investigation within the framework of the criminal proceedings opened on the basis of the crime of intentional, unlawful killing of animals.
