For justice, which believes that a “criminal organization” was preparing an “attempted coup d’état”, this one and a half hour video recording is incriminating evidence.

It shows a meeting between Bolsonaro, then head of state, and several ministers on July 5, 2022, at the presidential palace. The meeting discussed the upcoming presidential elections in October, in which his leftist rival Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva ultimately won.

It was published by the Supreme Court after a large-scale police operation against Bolsonaro and many senior officials and advisers who worked during his presidency. The former president has been banned from leaving the country since Thursday.

At the meeting on July 5, 2022, the atmosphere was noticeably tense, and Bolsonaro often raised his voice and cursed a lot.

“They are preparing everything for Lula to win in the first round by fraud,” he raged, criticizing the Supreme Court, “a superpower that decides everything, often outside the bounds” of the Constitution.
