US Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday condemned the “political motives” of special prosecutor Robert Gurr, who on Thursday commented on Joe Biden’s “bad memory” and age, AFP reports.

The magistrate’s report released at the end of an investigation into classified documents held by the US president is “clearly politically motivated,” Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor herself, told reporters at the White House.

US President Joe Biden, visibly angry, said Thursday night during a televised speech that he has no memory problems.

“I’m an old man and I know what the hell I’m doing. I don’t have a memory problem,” said Joe Biden, 81, vehemently denying that the report claimed he had forgotten the date of his son Beau’s death. “How dare he?” – he said.

The special counsel investigating allegations of mishandling of classified documents by Joe Biden decided not to recommend criminal charges in a report released Thursday that described the US president as an “elderly man with a failing memory.”

In his 388-page report, the special counsel specifically mentions a five-hour, two-day conversation with Joe Biden during which he noted that his “memory has deteriorated.”

“He did not remember when he was vice president,” not remembering exactly what year his term began or ended, nor the exact year of his eldest son Beau’s death, the prosecutor wrote.
