An interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted by American host Tucker Carlson, a close associate of Donald Trump, will be broadcast on his website on Thursday, the former TV star said on Wednesday on his Instagram account, AFP reported, citing Agerpres.

The interview will be published at 6:00 p.m. Washington time (11:00 p.m. GMT), he said in the black-and-white post, which shows the faces of the two men.

Tucker Carlson, a close associate of Donald Trump and longtime star Fox News reporter, recently traveled to Moscow for Putin’s first interview with a Western journalist since Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Tucker Carlson, who has repeatedly criticized American support for Ukraine in recent months, currently hosts a show on X (formerly Twitter).

The visit of the American presenter, a frequent purveyor of conspiracy theories, was widely covered by the Russian state media.

However, Tucker Carlson, who boasted that he was the only one willing to speak with the Russian president, was denied by the Kremlin, saying he was receiving requests for interviews with Vladimir Putin from Western media.

But Tucker Carlson has “a position that contrasts with the position of the traditional Anglo-Saxon media,” said the Russian president’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

Carlson’s access contrasts with restrictions on other foreign journalists in Russia, where two American reporters, Evan Hershkovich and Kurmasheva, were arrested last year and remain in custody.
