DNA announced on Tuesday that the Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal investigation against Flavia-Romona Bighiu, Deputy Mayor of Brasov Municipality, and Cristina Manolace, Head of the Heritage and Commercial Urban Service (SAPUC) of Brasov City Hall, for abuse of office.

According to the prosecutors, between April 1 and August 10, 2021, in violation of their obligations under the basic law and without the approval of the local council, Boghiu and Manolace allowed the association to use illegally and free of charge a building called “Brasov Catacombs” belonging to Brasov City Hall, for organizing events.”

DNA also says that with such an approach, Brasov City Hall would have suffered a total loss of 304,010 lei, “while receiving an undue benefit of the same amount for the relevant association.”
