South Africa reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Cape Verde in Yamoussoukro on Saturday. At the 120th minute, the score was 0-0, and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams became the hero of a series of shootouts.

Ronwen Williams saved penalties from Bebe, Willy Semedo, Laros Duarte and Patrick.

South Africa scored through Mokoeni and Myala (missing Lepas and Modib) and Brian Teixeira was the only one to beat Williams.

South Africa will play against Nigeria for a place in the grand final. In the other semi-final, Cote d’Ivoire (host of the competition) and DR Congo will meet.
