The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia proposed to investigate the relations of employees of the management structures of the largest Latvian companies with Russia, Belarus and other countries that support aggression against Ukraine, reports Ukrainian Pravda.

The Ministry proposes to investigate whether there are citizens of Russia, Belarus or other third countries in the management structures of key Latvian companies and organizations who “directly or indirectly support Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” or whether there are citizens in the management structures of important Latvian companies and organizations who ” may be connected with state institutions of Russia”.

• “If such persons and their connections with the aggression of Putin’s regime are discovered, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will propose to apply restrictive measures of the European Union to them,” the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
• “This is an ongoing effort, and in order to achieve this, we have asked the relevant ministries to assess whether third-country nationals who support the Putin regime and its aggression against Ukraine occupy high positions in important Latvian companies,” said Latvian Foreign Minister Kris’ Janis Karinsh.

The announcement comes after The Insider reported that Latvian MEP Tetiana Zdanoka has been a trusted spy for Russian intelligence for more than a decade.

The European Parliament announced on Tuesday that it has opened an investigation into Latvian MEP Tetiana Zdanoka.

According to an article by The Insider based on email exchanges between Zdanoka and Russian agents, the politician “openly defended” Moscow’s positions, including “clear and detailed accounts of her activities as an MEP.”

These e-mails refer to “physical meetings in Moscow or Brussels” and “requests for funding from Russian sources for his political activities.”
