PNL President Nicolae Chuke announced on Tuesday night on Antena 3 that the PNL will participate in this year’s elections “alone”, including the elections for the capital city hall, clarifying that the PNL will not support Nikushor Dan during the new mandate in the General City Hall of the capital, News.ro reports .

“We have nominated and have leadership at the level of the Bucharest branch, Minister Sebastian Burduya is the president of the Bucharest branch, the interim president. Together with colleagues from the branch, they had – and I hope that on February 1st they will complete the process of analyzing everything that the Decalogue meant, which I submitted to the mayor (Nikusor Dan – no). And from all the data to date, it is very clear that – of course, we also take into account the positioning of the mayor next to another political formation – to stop providing political support to the mayor, and the National Liberal Party to put forward its own candidate for the capital city hall,” Nikolay Chuke said in Tuesday night on Antena 3.

He declared that the NLP “will go alone” in this year’s elections.

The leader of PNL Bucharest, Minister Sebastián Burduya, announced last week that he is running for mayor of the capital, claiming that this is his job description after taking over the leadership of PNL Bucharest.

“I publicly said to Mr. Nikuzor Dan, do you want to defeat Firea? You have to beat me first. Let’s have a primary election. He didn’t answer me,” Burduya said.

In response, USR president Katelin Drula said on Monday that Bucharest’s PNL president Sebastián Bourduya was “getting to know the PSD”, wondering if he intended to help the social democratic candidate win the capital city hall.

“Mr. Bourduya supports the PSD, to put it more clearly. Until recently he was in charge of the Sector 1 branch, where now, like any party with a “liberal” name, they allowed an SRI officer to run the branch, Mr. Tutze, and he was in the same company with Mr. Florin. Manole, Chairman (PSD) from Sector 1 and they did their best to confuse and hinder Clotilde Armand who was running with this support. Now I don’t know what he wants… to help Gabriela Firea or who will be the PSD candidate?!”, replied Katalin Drula.

He recalled that in 2020 the PNL supported Nikušor Dan for the capital city hall, arguing to the citizens of Bucharest that the PSD “is the greatest evil that has destroyed” this city.
