Andy Murray crashed out of the first round of the ATP tournament in Montpellier after losing in three sets to Benoit Peyre 6-2, 6(5)-7, 3-6.

Favorite number five in Montpellier Andy Murray (49 ATP) stopped in the first round.

The ex-world leader lost the match to Benoit Paire (112 ATP), although he won the first set with a score of 6-2.

In the second act, Murray conceded a tiebreaker and after two hours and 43 minutes, the French pair were booked for eighth place.

There he will meet the winner of the match between Harold Mayo (144 ATP) and Lucas Pouille (315 ATP), both wild card holders.

The Open Sud de France takes place in Montpellier from January 29 to February 4. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is 579,320 euros. Yannick Sinner is the titular champion.
