“Activating its Sea Viper missile system, Diamond destroyed the drone that targeted it, with no damage to Diamond or any of its crew,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement in London on Sunday.

“These intolerable and illegal attacks are completely unacceptable, and it is our duty to protect the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea,” the quoted source added.

On November 19, in response to Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, the Iran-backed Houthi movement began launching waves of drones and rockets with explosives at ships.

On Friday, an attack was made on an oil tanker, which caused a fire on board.

US and British warplanes, ships and submarines have responded to attacks on shipping lanes with dozens of retaliatory strikes in Yemen against Houthi forces.
