Fossil, one of the traditional watch manufacturers, which also tried its luck in the smart watch market, announces that it will leave the latter, writes news.ro

After months of speculation, during which several sources claimed that Fossil was abandoning smartwatches, the American company has officially announced the decision.

Fossil confirmed to The Verge reporters that it is abandoning the smartwatch market and will not release any new models after Gen 6.

Instead, the company promises that current models will benefit from the updates for several years, without saying which models.

Fossil representatives call the decision a strategic one, aimed at redirecting resources to the core elements of the business, i.e. traditional watches, jewelry and leather accessories.

The decision is not necessarily surprising, considering that the American manufacturer has not released a new model since 2021, when it entered the market with the Gen 6.

Fossil smart watches were considered to be among the most beautiful on the market, their main drawback was limited autonomy.
