All frozen Russian assets must be used to defend against Russian aggression, and a new package of EU sanctions against Moscow is needed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in a video address on Saturday night.

“I want to note the results of the dialogue with our partners regarding Russian assets: this month we came closer to the decision we need, which will be the right one. All Russian assets – assets of the terrorist state itself and its affiliates – located in various jurisdictions and frozen, should be used to protect against Russian aggression. They should be confiscated. And we are doing everything to ensure that this decision is substantially prepared in the near future,” Zelenskyi emphasized, Ukrinform and News.ro report.

He thanked everyone who helped Ukraine promote this mechanism for restoring justice.

“And, of course, sanctions. A new package of sanctions from the EU is needed, and we are preparing it. We are also preparing new measures to limit Russia’s ability to circumvent sanctions. Every manifestation of pressure on Russia brings peace closer. Every manifestation of aid to Ukraine protects life. I am grateful to everyone who is with Ukraine! I thank everyone who fights and works for our country, for our independence and for our people,” Zelenskyy said.
