The attack caused an outage at the Rosneft refinery in the port city of Tuapse, where the Russian company exports most of its products.

A Ukrainian source in the SBU, Kyiv’s security service, initially told Reuters that the fire broke out at the refinery after Ukrainian forces attacked it with drones.

“The SBU strikes deep into the Russian Federation and continues to attack objects that are not only important for the Russian economy, but also provide fuel for the enemy’s troops,” a source in the SBU said on condition of anonymity.

The information was later confirmed by the head of the district, Serhii Boyko, after videos from the scene of the fire appeared on social networks.

The Russians say that the fire at the Rosneft refinery has been eliminated

“The vacuum was still burning. According to preliminary information, there are no victims or injured,” the Russian official said in a message published on Telegram, adding that the fire was extinguished by emergency services.

Rosneft has not yet commented on this information.

Rosneft’s Tuapsin Refinery has an annual production capacity of 12 million metric tons (240,000 barrels per day).

Among other things, it produces oil, crude oil, diesel fuel and high sulfur diesel fuel. Most of the oil products produced here are exported to Turkey, China, Malaysia and Singapore.
