The leader of PNL Bucharest, Minister Sebastián Burduya, has announced that he is running for the capital’s mayor’s office, saying that it is part of his job description after leading the organization of PNL Bucharest. “I publicly said to Mr. Nikuzor Dan, do you want to defeat Firea? You have to beat me first. Let’s hold a primary election. He didn’t answer me,” Burduja said, News.ro reports.
“In the job description of each branch president, there is a candidate for the most important position in the respective electoral district, in the case of the General Mayor’s Office of Bucharest. When you are a branch president, you have to take it upon yourself, and you have no more important duty than to face the voters, ask for their votes, ask for their trust and prove that you can win or have a very good result,” – said the Bucharest PNL leader on Prima News’ România Politică show, when asked if he would run for the capital’s mayor’s office on behalf of the PNL.
Sebastián Burduya stated that he will continue to do his job as Minister of Energy and leader of PNL Bucharest and clarified that he is an expert in urban development.
Regarding the candidates for the sectors, Sebastien Bourduya said that the PNL decided in the leadership forums that “they will go through us”, which means that they will have candidates for all the sectors and of course in the capital.
Regarding Nikusor Dan’s statement that the PNL candidate is giving Gabriela Firea the mayorship by the liberals, Burduja said that in a democracy the best must win.
“Even if we have a mayor, he is not a monarch, he is not implicitly the candidate of the right,” Burduja said, clarifying that he does not agree “with this narrative, which is very cheap.”
According to Bourdui, the discussion should be about the projects and what they want to do for the people of Bucharest.
“I also publicly said to Mr. Nikuzor Dan, do you want to defeat Firea? You have to beat me first. Let’s hold primaries on the right side, I have no problem,” he said.
Burduja said that such primary elections are held in all developed democracies.
“I believe that for four years, during the Firea administration, Bucharest had an incompetent administration with all kinds of connections, octopuses and everything that was said, and then we had another three years of blocking, unfortunately, a city that did not to look better and that this third, liberal way is needed, as demonstrated by the liberals,” Burduya emphasized.
PNL Bucharest leader also said that Nikusor Dan did not respond to this challenge for the primary elections.
