Inter Milan won the Italian Super Cup on Monday after beating Napoli 1-0 in the final in Saudi Arabia with an extra-time goal.

In a match played at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Napoli and Inter met to decide last season’s Italian super champions.

Inter dominated the first half and missed several chances to score, and received an unexpected assist at the start of the second.

In just five minutes, the Argentinian Giovanni Simeone received two yellow cards and left Napoli with a numerical advantage.

The pressure from Milan followed, but after a goalless 90 minutes, it looked like the match was heading for extra time.

In the first minute of stoppage time, captain Lautaro Martinez scored from six yards after Pavard’s cross.

The team coached by Simone Inzaghi will win the eighth Italian Super Cup trophy.
