Bucharest Mayor-General NikuĊĦor Dan said on Digi 24 on Monday night that he has replaced more than 50 km of pipes from the main heating network, compared to 13 km during Gabriela Firea’s tenure, and says the pace of work will increase.
Nikushor Dan says he is a fan of district heating “because it pollutes the environment less” than individual heating, only that the system has been “neglected for 30 years”.
In 2023, the capital city hall replaced approximately 100 kilometers of the heating network, of which 50 kilometers are the main network and the rest is the secondary network, according to data provided by the institution at the request of HotNews.ro.
The municipality is implementing three major projects for the restoration of the district heating network, the most important of which is the modernization of 210 kilometers of the trunk network with European funds – 260 million euros.
Of these, 10 kilometers were replaced last year and the good news is that although the funding cycle has ended, the money will not be lost as the project is being phased. The bad news: Breakdowns are up in 2023 compared to 2022, and outages remain high. Over the past four years, almost 11,000 houses have abandoned centralized heating.
Why is Nikusor Dan not approving the PUZ of branch town halls?
In response to questions received from sector mayors Robert Negoits and Cyprian Chuku, who accuse him of not approving the sector zoning plan for more than a year and a half, Nikushor Dan says mistakes were made regarding the construction plans. “Unfortunately, the documentation says that there are mixed zones (no housing – kindergartens/schools), but they are not,” he argued.
However, the genmer says that the PUZ of sector 6 “will be approved in less than a month or two.”
