President Klaus Iohannis, in his last year in office, received Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday in Ko Trochen. Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh was received by Yohannis in Kotrochen on Monday afternoon.

“I am glad, Mr. Prime Minister, that after our two meetings you have decided to visit a country of which I hope you have very pleasant memories,” Iohannis told the Vietnamese Prime Minister, who during during his visit to Bucharest, he met with Marcel Ciolacu and took part in the Romanian-Vietnamese Economic Forum.

The last public speech of the President took place on December 18, 2023, when the awarding ceremony of the Codex of the Romanian Association took place. Since then, Yohannis has not appeared in public, the Presidential Administration sends messages on the occasion of various events or reports on the signing of decrees.

The long-term absence of President Klaus Iohannis in the public space became a reason for irony in social networks, and AUR deputy Adrian Aksinia complained to the police about the disappearance of the head of state.

What has the president been doing since December? The president’s administration claims that he was not on vacation “in the sense defined by labor legislation.”
