USR Bucharest leader Vlad Voiculescu says that, according to his information, there is “no progress” in the case regarding the vaccines against COVID and that if it were made public, the truth would become “100% obvious”, writes Agrepres.

When asked how he sees the fact that Pfizer sued the Romanian government, the former health minister stressed that the relevant contracts were concluded without consulting the ministry by former prime minister Florin Kitsu and the former president of the National Committee for coordination of activities with Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2, Valeriu Giorgitse.

  • “First of all, this is a private company that obviously sees its own interest. Then when you ask me about payments made or not made to a private company, you are asking me about the contracts that were made. You have to ask who made these contracts and I will tell you that it was Mr. Georgitse and Mr. Kitsu, without the involvement of the Ministry of Health.
  • I have said this publicly dozens of times, but I will repeat it as many times as necessary. This is also confirmed by the evidence in the case file, which I had the opportunity to familiarize myself with. Therefore, no participation of the Ministry of Health, unfortunately, I say. At that time, the Ministry of Health was bypassed. (…) The current Minister of Health can have any opinion.
  • The memoranda I assume he is referring to were executed almost a month after the contract was signed. The contracts you are probably referring to were signed in February. Memoranda are drawn up in March. If you don’t understand legal issues, I’m sorry, he’s a doctor,” Vlad Voiculescu said on Sunday.

Florin Citsu and Valeriu Giorgice must say why Romania did not use, donate or resell vaccines, Voiculescu claims

According to him, former Prime Minister Florin Kitsa and Valeria Giorgitsa should be asked why not enough vaccines were used and why some of them were not donated or resold.

“I couldn’t do it myself until April. What I am saying is very clear: contracts were concluded without the then Ministry of Health, and this is what is visible, it is confirmed in the dossier,” he said.

Vlad Voiculescu noted that he “didn’t communicate with the prosecutors” for the past month and a half, but he had access to the case.

He also said that he will send a report to the prosecutor’s office, a document that will show that he was not among the people who took care of the vaccination.

  • “During these months and a half, I had access to the file. The things in the materials are so clear that I think the prosecutor should do a few things, check and have a few discussions, first of all with those who took care of the vaccination, namely Mr. Georgitse.
  • Do you know how many hearings were held in this case until today or until the end of November? Zero. The first… I think the prosecutor is what I’m going to convey to him, I think we’re going to come out with a memorandum in the coming weeks where we’re going to make it very clear — what I’m going to ask him to do is to talk to by those to whom they took care of vaccination.
  • If he wanted to get to the bottom of the decision, that is, who will have the final say on vaccine purchases, who is vaccinated, when they are vaccinated, how the vaccination campaign is conducted, it is Mr. Johannis. And that’s not what I’m saying. I hope each of you keep this in mind when thinking about vaccination. I think you see the figure of Mr. Georgitse, the figure of Mr. Bachiu, the figure of Mr. Kitsu, and the figure of Mr. Yohannis. These are the people who took care of vaccination,” the former Minister of Health also said.

Vlad Voiculescu: from February 2021, the Ministry of Health was “removed from the scheme”

According to him, in February 2021, the Ministry of Health was “completely removed from the scheme”, and he learned about the purchases made with the written consent of Prime Minister Florin Kitsu in March.

  • “As far as I know, there is no progress in the case. I want everything to go as quickly as possible. (…) From my point of view, if my whole file was public, the truth would be 100% clear and accessible to everyone. I want everything to be released as soon as possible and I want everything to happen on file so that all the necessary steps are taken as soon as possible. (…)
  • If you ask me what discussions we had when I found out, I can tell you that one of the discussions was a question addressed to Mr. Sitz: was he sure he was doing the right thing. And he confirmed it to me. But there is a discussion I had with someone who had already made a decision and that decision had already been carried out.
  • You can’t blame him for not only having no effect because he wasn’t asked, but for a decision he didn’t even know about. Ask for the transcripts of the Government meetings on March 10, March 18, 2021, and everything will become crystal clear,” he said.

Government spokesman Mihai Constantin said on Thursday that the authorities in Bucharest were notified last December by Pfizer of the opening of legal proceedings to recover some sums of money, given the incompleteness of the purchase. by the Romanian side, 28 million doses of the Covid vaccine, with the first deadline due in February.
