
A businessman from Cluj-Napoca, owner of one of the oldest bistros in the city, was caught driving under the influence, told the police that he was robbed and tortured by several people. After 48 hours of investigation, the police found that the man was lying, reports Foaia Transilvană.
The Cluj County Police announced in a press release on Wednesday that on Tuesday morning, around 05:45, a traffic accident occurred in Cluj-Napoca, in which a 42-year-old man was involved, who was in a state of alcohol intoxication. respectively, 0.76 mg/l of pure alcohol in exhaled air.
He told police that he had been assaulted and robbed that night.
- “During the investigation of the traffic accident, the person in question reported the aggression to which she was allegedly subjected on the night of January 15-16 this year in a hall located near Cluj-Napoca, a fact that was not reported due to the emergency.
- Taking into account the condition of the victim, she was taken to the reception department for medical assistance, currently the criminal investigation authorities have expanded checks on the fact of the reported violence, established a suitable place, collected evidence and means of proof. and proceeded to review several CCTV cameras to confirm data from the field with those reported by the victim in order to accurately establish all the circumstances,” Cluj police officials said.
The local press notes that the businessman has money problems and therefore staged the attack.
“From the results of the investigation conducted by police officers from the Cluj District Police Inspectorate, the Criminal Investigation Service and the Cluj-Napoca Municipal Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation with the support of the Criminal Investigation Department and the special support of the Special Operations Department, respectively, the Cluj Territorial Department of Information Analysis, it turned out that the informants were not were confirmed, evidence was provided, from which it follows that the victim was not the victim of any crime of illegal deprivation of liberty or qualified robbery”, according to IPJ Cluj.
“Also, according to the victim’s statements, violence would be used against him in order to obtain a password from a device of the “cold wallet” type, on which he was supposed to store cryptocurrency. Currently, the 42-year-old man is hospitalized in a hospital, where he is receiving medical assistance,” the Cluj police reported.
Some of the stolen goods were recovered, and regarding the theft of cryptocurrencies and the corresponding wallet-type device, the police clarified that “the act does not exist, and no damage was caused by third parties.”
