Mihnia Stroe, president of the Association of Family Doctors of Bucharest-Ilfova, explained that the framework agreement for 2024 cannot be signed with the House of Health Insurance in the context of the crisis related to the budget allocated to family medicine, and that in her opinion, the quality consultations offered to the patient will decrease, News.ro reports.

“I consulted with colleagues from Bucharest and the conclusion was that this additional act (framework agreement for 2024 – no) cannot be signed with the Bucharest Health Insurance House starting from February 1. In my opinion, the quality of patient counseling will decrease. Having the same time allocation, having the same number of patients or more patients, because if these values remain, many of our colleagues will probably refuse the contract with the insurance company, those who will stay will have many more patients and then the quality of the medical act will decrease “, Mikhnya Stroe said on Monday on Medika TV.

When asked whether from February 1, patients who go to a family doctor will have to pay for a consultation, Stroje said that he likes to be optimistic and hopes that it will not come to that.

“We want it to not come to that and in the end, CNAS will reach the conclusions that everyone needs,” Mikhnya Stroe clarified.

Also, when asked whether negotiations will take place, Stroe explained that they will be handled by a panel of doctors.

“From our point of view, there will be no negotiations, because employers’ associations, professional associations do not have the right to negotiate, there will only be consultations. We will be there in the first part of Thursday, after which the negotiations will be conducted only with the board of doctors, in the afternoon, on Thursday. I like to think positively and think that everything will work out, especially for the patients,” Straw said.

The President of the Association of Family Doctors Bucharest-Ilfov also explained what the money that CNAS allocates to family doctors is used for.

“What we receive, this money for consultations, is not the family doctor’s money, but the office’s money, from which we have to pay certain things. First of all, these are payments to the state, then salaries, gas, electricity, maintenance, rent, cleaning supplies,” said Stroe.

Mikhnya Stroe did not rule out that several family medicine offices will close in the near future.

“I do not rule it out (closing some family medicine offices – no). There are many colleagues who are close to retirement who may retire and decide to close their offices,” Mihnea Stroe said, according to News.ro.

Dozens of family and outpatient doctors walked out on Monday in the courtyard of the Vitan Polyclinic in Bucharest, protesting the too low rates they say the Health Insurance Company wants to regulate the practice this year.

The rates proposed by the CNAS are lower than last year, and family and outpatient doctors are threatening to stop signing contracts with the House of Health Insurance from February 1, which could mean they will no longer provide consultations set from next month, but within fees.
