On January 7, at the 448th kilometer of the special section of the Dakar Rally, Carles Falcon fell, after which he was taken by helicopter to Al-Duwadimi Hospital in a serious condition.
The Spanish pilot suffered, among other things, brain swelling and a fractured cervical vertebra, and was operated on the night after the crash at a hospital in Riyadh.
Almost two weeks after the incident, the doctors reported that his injuries were irreversible and that he was pronounced dead.
“Carles left us on Monday, January 15. The medical team confirmed that the neurological damage caused by cardiac and respiratory arrest during the crash was irreversible.” – said in the official statement of the doctors.
