
Two men are suspected of shooting four dogs in a field in Konstanz County, and investigators seized two hunting weapons they legally possessed, News.ro reported.
IPJ Constanţa announced on Monday that several people allegedly shot dogs on the outskirts of Gredina commune. The events allegedly happened on Sunday afternoon.
“The police officers, who went to the scene, identified the two dead and two injured canines, which were found to have injuries that could have been caused by gunshots. At the same time, it turned out that the individuals of the dogs of the usual breed were not chipped. Also, during the investigation, a 12 mm cartridge tube was discovered on the spot,” said IPJ Constanța representatives.
As a result of the checks, the police identified two men, aged 51 and 56, as suspects in the crime.
Also, two legal hunting weapons of 12 mm caliber were seized from them.
“The corpses of the two dogs were exhumed by experts from the Directorate of Veterinary and Food Safety of Constanţa for an anatomical and pathological examination to establish the causes of death,” the quoted source said.
The police have opened criminal proceedings for the crimes of illegal handling of weapons, poaching, intentional and illegal killing of animals and intentional bodily harm to animals.
