“As a result of the request for the expansion of the operating schedule formulated by the autonomous body “Brasov-Gimbav International Airport” on September 27, 2023, with further additions sent between October 2023 and January 2024, the management of the Romanian airport Civil Aviation Authority (AACR) approved the proposed changes and published on January 11, 2024 the Conditions of Certification for Brasov-Gimbav International Airport RO – 25/2023 edition 2. Thus, the planned aircraft will be able to land or take off from Brasov Airport in the time period 07:00-23:00″, – the press reports – the release published by the Brasov District Council.

The press release reminds that the decision to extend the AIBG schedule was agreed on October 30, 2023 by the officials of the Brasov County Council, the Brasov-Gimbav International Airport and the heads of institutions that regulate aviation activities. in our country – the Romanian Air Traffic Service Administration ROMATSA RA and the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority.

“Following the application dated November 29, 2023, in which ROMATSA confirmed its agreement to extend the schedule of the Brasov-Gimbav International Airport from 12:00 to 16:00, we also received a document from the Air Navigation Authority signed by Mr. General Director. Nicolae Stoica, on the basis of which we have approval for an extended schedule from January 15, 2024. Together with Mr. Director Constantin Albu, in partnership with the Board of Directors of AIBG, with the support of public institutions at the airport and with the constant support of ROMATSA and AACR, we have taken all the steps leading to this long-awaited moment, so we, as administrators of the goal, especially the airlines , are interested in the Brasov airport, and we are all satisfied that we managed to take this first step towards a 24-hour program,” said the president of the Brasov District Council Todoricha-Kostyantyn Sherban.

General Director of Brasov-Gimbav International Airport, Kostiantyn Albu, says that he is “ready, together with the whole team, to meet the needs of the new 16-hour schedule.”

“I am glad that we managed in a very short time to implement all aspects related to the operation of Brasov Airport in accordance with the regulations of the regulatory authorities, to solve the specific requirements of the institutions that carry out their activities within the framework of AIBG and others have chosen to do very well to document our request to expand the program so that the management of the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority gives us the consent and supports us in this endeavour. I am convinced that in the next period transport activity will undergo significant growth,” said Kostyantyn Albu.

As there are currently no contracts with airlines to operate flights outside the original schedule of 07:00-19:00, a pragmatic and effective approach in this situation, analyzed and agreed by all parties involved, is that in the first stage the Airport Schedule will be adapted depending on the specific requests received from air operators, without exceeding the 16-hour interval, the quoted source also showed.
