Police have opened a criminal investigation after a man in monk’s robes was filmed beating a man on a bus in Constanta, Replica Online reports.

A man who was insulted by a monk in the municipality of Konstanz on bus 102 filed a complaint with the police.

The victim tried to fight back, but the man in the monk’s robe was more skilled in striking, and the conflict was resolved by the bus driver, who dropped both of them off.

“You’re not kidding me, you jerk,” the assailant allegedly says, according to a recording made by a hiker.

“Dude, dog! March,” says a man with a long beard and in monk’s clothes. Then he throws his fists at him again.

“I will kill you here!” he said before the driver intervened.

“On January 7 of this year, around 9:30 p.m., police officers of the Municipal Police of the city of Constanta – Police Department 1 received a report that a man had been physically attacked. So, the police established that the 38-year-old man was injured while he was on the bus. Criminal proceedings have been opened in the case for the fact of striking or other violence. Currently, investigative actions aimed at establishing the suspect’s identity and taking the necessary measures are underway,” the police said.

According to local media, two participants in the quarrel were allegedly drunk.

Constanta-based public transport company CT BUS said the bus was under video surveillance and would provide authorities with information about the incident.

Representatives of the archdiocese of Tomis say that the man in the video is not part of the church clergy, nor do they know if he belongs to another diocese in the country, Ziarul de Iași reports.

They reminded that the use of uniforms and illegal occupation of the profession are punishable by law.
