The President of the National Governing Council of the AUR, Senator Claudio Tarzio, said on Wednesday about the products distributed by the AUR through the Medical Caravan that they were bought through people’s donations and not through public funds, as the party did not transfer the money to the association’s account, which performed project.
Claudio Tarziu stated on Prima News’ România Politică show that the AUR did not donate any money to the account of the Medici pentru Sate association, and could not have done so legally.
“People donated there, some of them also belong to the AUR party. But it was not URP that donated, as a legal entity. I personally donated. Small amounts, maybe 2000 lei. As long as we support this project, promote it and consider it useful for Romanians from villages forgotten by the world, I believe that all AUR members will be called to help this project not through obligations, but through a gesture of soulful participation”, – emphasized the leader of AUR, reports News.ro.
Claudio Tarzio said that “such an attack categorically benefits the PSD and the PNL, those in power, and is directed against a political party that is on the rise.”
“No prosecutor who knows how to read the law would take up such a criminal statement, the law clearly states that we can conduct political campaigning, if it is not an election campaign,” he said.
When asked if he recognized that there was political advocacy in the AUR Medical Caravan, Tarziu said: “Not that we admit it, I said that from the beginning, I have not for a moment hidden the thought of the interweaving of this need to carry our political messages with a desire to help people. We did the political part, and the Association of Rural Doctors – the medical part, with volunteer doctors.”
“There is no illegality, if I didn’t spend public money on gifts, I don’t see what the problem is. The fact that an elderly man comes for a consultation, and the doctor thinks he needs it, and he has an ointment, a cream and can provide it to an association, which is a public organization, it gives, I don’t see. what’s the problem,” he said.
He later admitted that the AUR had gifted the AUR and the party leadership program under the leadership of George Simeon.
“As long as the money used to buy these creams and glasses is not state money and is not in our party’s account, it can be donated. We gave them a package with our state program, a leaflet, a newspaper, and the doctors also put other products in that package. Of course, these had to be separate bags. Our logo appears on cars because we are allowed to do so,” said Claudio Tarziou.
