World number one Novak Djokovic is preparing for his first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open, but the time spent away from his family is causing him more concern.
Novak Djokovic gets sad before every tennis tournament: “My heart breaks”
The Serb admitted that it is increasingly difficult for him to leave his loved ones, although the desire to perform remains.
In an interview with Sportklub, he spoke frankly about this topic, mentioning, in particular, his loved ones.
“Honestly, I beat my head. There’s always a kid inside of me that loves to play tennis and wants to keep doing it.
But, on the other hand, I am also the father of two children. Every time I have to leave my family for a long period of time, my heart breaks,” he admitted, according to News.ro.
“That’s why I always ask myself: how much more do I have to play? How many more tournaments do I need to play? Is it still worth the effort?”
Despite these questions and the sacrifices he has made, the Serb said he is “still hungry for success”.
He is the overwhelming favorite to win the Australian Open and could have a historic season with the Olympics in his sights.
