
Three high school students from Vaslui who became SMURD volunteers last year saved the life of a man who had a heart attack on the street on Tuesday, News.ro reports. The 62-year-old victim fell to his feet not far from the place where the three were. He was given first aid and started resuscitation until the doctors arrived.
“Today, three volunteers of ISU Vaslui and the crew of SMURD ambulance type C1 (mobile resuscitation) saved the life of a man who suffered a myocardial infarction. Near the headquarters of Aquavas/Goscom Vaslui, a 62-year-old man fell from his feet as if from a scythe. Three students of the Theoretical Secondary School “Mykhailo Kogelnicanu” and SMURD volunteers at the “Podul Inalt” Emergency Situations Inspectorate in Vaslui saw what happened, immediately crossed the street, assessed the victim and began to provide him with first aid, while calling the unique number for emergency situations, 112 “, – sent representatives of ISU Vaslui on Tuesday evening.
According to them, the students informed the on-duty dispatcher that the man’s cardiovascular system had stopped, and a brigade and a mobile intensive care unit of the SMURD were urgently dispatched to the scene.
“As they learned in first aid courses, three SMURD volunteers began CPR and continued until the TIM ambulance arrived. In the shortest possible time, the SMURD ambulance arrived at the scene, and the team continued resuscitation. After he was stabilized, the man was taken to the emergency department of the Vaslui District Emergency Hospital,” the quoted source added.

The three volunteers are Maria Ignat (16 years old), Janis Bologa (17 years old) and Stefan Gerge, they are students of 1X and 11th grades of LMK Vaslui and they will become SMURD volunteers in 2023.
“Even though the three students were emotional and afraid that they had done something wrong (a natural reaction considering this was the first intervention in a real emergency), the SMURD EMS coordinator was delighted with the doctor’s intervention. young rescuers, the doctor stated that “volunteers acted by the book, significantly increasing the patient’s chances of survival, thanks to energetic and safe actions before the arrival of the mobile intensive care team”, representatives of the Vaslui ISU also reported.
At the moment, the patient is hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
